This timer begins and ends each meditation with the sound of resonant chimes in deep tones. By the first three strikes of the chimes to begin meditation, a spirit of calm and mystery is evoked that enables one to enter into the always rich experience of meditation. This timer is so easy to use and turns itself off as the final chimes are struck softly to end the meditation experience. It is well made and durable. The real wood exterior accents any room and there is a volume adjustment for sound control of chimes. The price is excellent for a timer of this quality and reliability. Highly recommended for everyone!

Meditation Timer – Varnished Wood Overview

The Meditation Timer will allow you to meditate, practice yoga, or conduct a therapy session without having to keep an eye on the clock. Its gentle gong will ease you into and out of your session, and the beautiful wood finish and organic shape will naturally blend into the environment. The meditation timer is built to the perfect proportions of the Kheops Pyramid of Gizah, which Feng Shui specialists consider a source of powerful energy, stability, and balance. The simple controls of the timer make it easy to set the desired time duration, start the timer, and then turn your focus toward your session. Simply turn the dial to one of the 8 fixed time settings and press the ON button. Twenty seconds later, three rings of the gong will signal the start of the session. The timer is completely silent until the end of the time set. Several soft taps of the gong signal the end of the session followed by three steady rings of the gong. The gong is a digital recording of a Gong Bowl realistically played over a high-quality speaker inside the timer. Decent product, flawed, overpriced – Binod Singh –
This is a decent product for what it is, in that it works and is pretty much one of the only options available to buy.

The issues with it:

- The dial one mine does not go all the way to 60, it stops and refuses to turn a little before, at about 55-57 minutes.
- The gongs. Who decided and invented the ending gong? It is atrocious. Meditation gongs, even Zen, are 3 strikes to begin, 2 strikes for break or to indicate kinhin session in between two sittings, and 3 gongs to end. Always 3 gongs to end. This thing has about 5-6 gongs in total at the end, not full gongs, but something like:

ding(soft gong) – ding-ding – ding – ding – ding

This is horrible and not gentle. If I wish to stay in my session longer, it is not gentle enough that I am able to remain in full absorption, my absorption gets broken. The gong should be audible enough to let you know that the session has ended, but gentle enough to let you remain in absorption if you please. 3 soft gongs allows for this. These 5 gongs are too long and distracting. Really makes this product sub-par

- Price. For what it does, the materials, and its flaws, the price tag is too large.

I bought mine direct from the company a few years ago, I have since given it to a friend as I never used it after the first try.

One problem is that it’s way too expensive.

Another issue is the “digitally created gong sound”, it’s not very good and there was so much distortion in the sound that I could hear the alarm sound before I heard the gong. To clarify, the static noise was heard first then the gong. And, that was turned down very low, it was a bit of a jolt during meditation.

It’s large…don’t know exact dimensions, but 4 1/2 square at the bottom.

Finally someone got it right. Salubrion’s Enso clock while is an alarm clock and an interval timer with your choice of tone. The gong is great, but you also have the choice of a Tingsha chime, Moktak or regular chime. I Love the Enso meditation clock/timer.
